Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Morigaon established in the year 2014 is a front-line agricultural extension organization working under the administrative control of Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat with financial support from Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi. It is situated at Jhargaon of Mayong Development Block which is twenty five kilometres away from district headquarter towards West and 10 km away from Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary towards East.
The KVK Morigaon act as one stop solution for agricultural development in terms of agri and allied science by imparting trainings to extension personal, rural youths, progressive farmers and farm women, FPO, NGOs, FPCs. Moreover, it acts to reduce the time lag between the technology transfer from research institutions to the farmers` field through On Farm Trial (OFT) and Front-Line Demonstration (FLD) for increasing production, productivity and income from the agriculture and allied sectors on a sustainable basis.
KVK Morigaon organized an interaction meeting and live demonstration of Agriculture machineries being popularized by KVK in district under APART -IRRI project to a high level four member delegate team headed by Mr.Hamish Marr(Special Agriculture Trade Envoy),Ms.Melanie Phillips(Agriculture Counsellor), Mr.Hal Seller (MPI India desk Officer,Ms.Kethosena Peseyie (Policy adviser-Agri,Trade & Economics) from New Zealand visited Krishi Vigyan Kendra,Morigaon ,Assam Agricultural University on 24.03.2024 to have an overlook of present agricultural scenario and the marketing channels of the state. The team interacted with the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Assam Agricultural University Dr.Bidyut Chandan Deka,Director of Extension Education, Assam Agricultural University Dr.Manoranjan Neog, State Project Director,ARIAS Mr.Virendra Mittal,IAS, Secretary Agriculture,Govt.of Assam Mr. Tez Prasad Bhusal, Director Agriculture Mr.Bhaskar Pegu,IAS, Director Assam Seed & Organic Certification Agency Mr.Madhuram Patiri , Resident Consultant, International Rice Research Institute Dr.Virendra Yadav, District Agriculture Officer, Morigaon Mr.Ashok Sarma , In-charge Head of KVK, Morigaon Ms.Shaptadvipa Bhattacharjee along with other staffs of Krishi Vigyan Kendra and Farmer Producer Company.
A small presentation of agriculture and allied activities by In-charge Head Ms.Shaptadvipa Bhattacharjee was delivered along with presentation by Mr.Ranjan Borthakur POOHAR Farmer Producer Company on the seed processing cum custom hiring centre. POOHAR FPC was formed with the technical guidance of KVK,Morigaon, AAU under APART project. Mechanization in agriculture was practical demonstrated with machines like Seed cum Fertilizer Drill, Mechanical Transplanting of Rice, Seed drying through Solar Bubble drier and Seed storage in Coccon Bags by IRRI & KVK Scientist.
The team appreciated the work done by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Assam Agricultural University and informed about the future way forward for value chain management.
On 12th March 2024, KVK Morigaon organized an Entrepreneurs’ Meet in its office premises. A total of 90 numbers of participants including entrepreneurs, farmers and farm women and RAWEP students of College of Agriculture participated the programme. The programme started with an inaugural speech by in-charge head of KVK, Morigaon stating the objective of the programme. After that, invited Resource Persons from Lead Bank and DICC Morigaon delivered their lectures wherein they focused on various schemes for the benefit of emerging entrepreneurs. Special invitee, Mr Gunajit Brahma, delivered a speech on scopes of capturing national and international market through producing and marketing of agricultural produce. He also shared his experience of becoming an entrepreneur among the participants. Lastly, an interaction programme was also arranged among the entrepreneurs and invited guests. The programme ended with vote of thanks form Dr. S.C. Kalita, SMS (Animal Science).
A Millet Recipe Contest was conducted at Jagibhakatgaon ,Jagiroad and Pub-Borbhugia by KVK,Morigaon on 15/7/2023, 26/7/2023 and 28/7/2023 wherein a total of 154 nos. of Farmer & Farm women participated in the programme .At the very outset Shaptadvipa Bhattacharjee, SMS (Plant Breeding & Genetics) welcome all the participants and delivered lecture on the importance of the millets and its health effects. A recipe contest in different locations was held among the women farmers. All the participants were given participation certificates and 15 winners(1st,2nd,3rd & 2 consolation prizes) chosen were recognized as MILLET BRAND AMBASSADOR. The participants showed greater interest and concern.
Field visit programme was organised by Directorate of AAU-ODL on 11.6.2024 to KVK Morigaon under HRD Course on Scientific Livestock Practices for Livelihood development for twenty two (22) SMS from Animal Science discipline from different districts from the state of Nagaland,Mizoram,Manipur,Tripura and Meghalaya under ATARI Zone VII, ICAR.An interaction programme was organized at KVK Morigaon with Senior Scientist and Head of the center and later on they were taken to small scale silage production unit developed by KVK with Mahabahu Farmers Producer Company located at Saraibahi and diversified farm of Junuma Mali deka named Agro Vet Farm located at Dandua
Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Morigaon organized a webcasting programme on release of 17th instalment of PM Kisan for the period April to July 2024 which was released at Kisan Sammelan by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India on 18th June 2024 in Vanarasi, Uttar Pradesh in its office premises. A total number of 95 participants including farmers / farm women and office staff participated the programme.
Training cum awareness of application of Nano urea by drone was conducted at Dharamtul wherein 50 nos. of farmers participated. At the very outset course director Mrs. Shaptadvipa Bhattacharjee, SMS (PBG) welcome all the participants. Later Dr. Rijusmita Sarma Deka, Senior Scientist & Head explained the theme of the programme. Then Mr. Bedanta Bora, Executive Engineer, Irrigation department Morigaon, GoA delivered lecture on various departmental schemes related to Irrigation. Then Mr. Partha Saikia, Field Office, IFFCO delivered lecture on application of Nano urea and the time taken by drone. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Anshuman Das, Assistant Executive Engineer and Mr. Dipankar Bora, PAC ,KVK, Morigaon.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Morigaon in collaboration with NDRI, ERS, Kalyani, (West Bengal) initiated a project on Establishment of field-based conservation unit of Lakhimi cattle of Assam in Morigaon district for Improving livelihood through Dairy farming at KVK Morigaon, Jhargaon on 6th September 2024. Scientists of ERS-NDRI, namely Dr. Santanu Bonik (Head), Dr. Champak Bhakat (Principal Scientist), Dr Ajoy Mandal (Principal Scientist), Dr. Asif Mohammad (Senior Scientist) , Dr G Kadrivel Director ATARI Zone VI Guwahati and Dr H.C Bhattacharyya, Scientific Consultant, ATARI Zone VI participated in the programme. In the project initiation meeting a total of 50 dairy farmers from Boha Doloni, Murkata, Sativeti and Auguri having Lakhimi cattle were selected under project and some need-based inputs vij. cattle feed, silage, fodder slips, mineral mixture, dewormer and other medicines were distributed to them under the project as a component of direct benefits transfer. Dr. Rijusmita Sarma welcomed all the guest and farmers present in the programme. Dr Santanu Banik, Head ERS, Kalyani highlighted the objective of this programme and detailed about the importance of conservation of Lakhimi Cattle for sustainable dairy development in North Eastern India. Dr. Champak Bhakat, Principal Scientist briefed about scientific management of dairy cattle. Dr G Kadrivel Director ATARI, Zone VI deliberated on marketing strategies for higher profitability in dairy sector. Dr. Rijusmita Sarma also stressed the need for upliftment of dairy farmers of the district through scientific feeding and management, importance of silage as dairy feed for animals and role KVK to collect feedback from beneficiaries.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Morigaon in association with Department of Microbiology, College of Veterinary Science, Khanapara under NCDC -National One Health Program for Prevention and Control of zoonoses organized One day Workshop cum sensitisation meeting on Zoonotic Diseases on 31.08.2024 at Pobitora Hut . Dr. Dilip Kumar Sharma, Professor and consultant deliberated a resourceful talk on Importance of relation between animal - human health . During the interaction programme District epidemiologist elaborated the prevailing scenario of zoonosis related disease in district. District Commissioner, Morigaon Shri Devasish Sharma graced the occasion which was motivating to the official related to animal and human health. The meeting was attended by Dr( Prof.)Dilip Kumar Sharma, Dr (Prof) Rajiv Sharma, Dr Nilotpal Kakoti ( District Veterinary Officer) Dr Arun Kumar Nath ( Joint Director Health). Officers from veterinary Services,Officers and field workers from Health department , Pasu Sakhi from different blocks of the district . Total 100 participants were benefitted from the workshop.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Morigaon in collaboration with College of Veterinary Science Khanapara organized an Animal Health cum treatrment camp as a post flood contingency measure at two locations Lengerigaon and Bordubatoop. In both the camps Feed block , medicines, anthelmentic along with feed supplements were distributed among the 100 farmers to support their livestock. In the camp respected District Commissioner,Morigaon Sri Devasish Sharma, Circle officer, Bhuragaon, Dr. Priyanka Bonia and team of experts and group of 25 students from College of Veterinary Science attended the Camp and provided treatment and advisories to the farmers present in the camp.Team of experts include Dr Masuk Rakib(DDSW) Dr.Purabi Kaushik,Dr.Raj Jyoti Deka,Dr.Lakhya Jyoti Bora,Dr Arup Das,Dr Dhrubajyoti Borpujari led by Dr. J. Dutt HOD, Department of Veterinary Medicine. Also experts KVK,Dr. Rijushmita Sarma Deka, Dr Subhash Kalita and Mr. Parag Mani Deka were involved in the problem. Participation, cooperation and reaction of the farmers revealed that camp was satisfactory
On 30th September, 2024 Committee of Estimates, Assam Legislative Assembly chaired by Shri Prasanta Phukan, MLA along with seven other MLAs of the committee namely Shri Rupak Sharma, Shri Mrinal Saikia, Shri Wazed Ali Choudhury, Shri Kamalakhya Dey Purakayasth, Shri Aminul Islam (Sr), Shri Aminul Islam (Jr) and Shri Diganta Barman visited KVK Morigaon. At the beginning Senior Scientist and Head of KVK Morigaon welcomed all the guests and presented the activities carried out by KVK Morigaon in the district. Later on, they visited Amrit Sarovar Pond under PNRD scheme of Government of Assam in the office premises of KVK Morigaon. The team appreciated the efforts of KVK Morigaon in providing services to the farmers of the district.
A district administration team of 18 members has visited Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Morigaon today on 03/01/2026, where Morigaon District Commissioner Mrs. Anamika Tiwari and CEO Zila Parishad Mr. Ananta Gogoi were present. We have discussed about VB G-RAM-G various scheme with Morigaon District Commissioner & CEO Zila Parishad. Also Senior Scientist & Head along with SMS Soil Science of KVK Morigaon visited Basabori village of Morigaon district and interacted with about 8 farmers about VB G-RAM-G various schemes.
The Scientific Advisory Committee Meeting (SACM) was held at Krishi Vigyan Kendra Morigaon on 5th of March, 2026 at the Conference Hall of KVK Morigaon from 2’O clock in the afternoon. The meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Dr. Manoranjan Neog, Director of Extension Education, AAU, Jorhat. Dr. Prabodh Borah, Director of Research (Veterinary), AFVU, Khanapara, Dr. H. K. Borah, Chief Scientist, AAU-ZRS Shillongoni and all the heads of the line departments of the district were present during the said meeting. At the outset, Senior Scientist and Head, Dr. Rijusmita Sarma Deka, KVK Morigaon welcomed all the invited guests and appraised all regarding the objective of conducting the SAC meeting. All the dignitaries present in the house were being felicitated. The Director of Extension Education, AAU Jorhat, in his introductory remark informed the house that SACM is a crucial part of KVKs as it helps in planning a roadmap for next year’s action plan. He appreciated the works carried out by KVK Morigaon in agriculture and allied sector and also for successfully mobilizing good amount of fund for the welfare of farmers in convergence mode. During his address, he emphasized that action plan should be based on current Government requirement such as natural farming, pulse production, cultivation of coconut, cashewnut, cocoa, agarwood, Biofortified crops, flower cultivation, nutritional security specially in FPO/FPC mode. Dr. Prabodh Borah, Director of Research (Veterinary), AFVU, Khanapara, suggested that action plan should be according to the need of the farmer. Dr. H. K. Borah, Chief Scientist, AAU-ZRS Shillongoni, stressed on timely completion of agricultural activities for getting maximum yield. The Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Morigaon presented the Action Taken Report, Progress Report (2025-26) and Action plan (2026-27) of KVK in the house. At the end of the presentation, officials from the line departments and farmers provided their suggestions for the action plan for 2026-27. During the meeting, a total of nine numbers of publications of KVK Morigaon were released. A total of 42 officials from various Line Departments, KVK, enterpreneurs and progressive farmers of Morigaon district had actively participated in the meeting. The meeting resolved with officials and farmers providing suggestions for the action plan, ensuring a collaborative approach to improving the agricultural sector in Morigaon. The meeting concluded with vote of thanks from the Chairman, Dr. Manoranjan Neog, Director of Extension Education, Jorhat.
One day training on Registration of farmer’s variety under Protection of Plant Varieties & Farmers’ Right Authority was conducted at Pobitora Hut on 13/03/2026 where 107 nos. of farmers and farm women participated in the programme. At the very outset Dr. Shaptadvipa Bhattacharjee, course director welcome all the participants and explained the importance about the topic. Then Dr. Pankaj Debchoudhury Retd. Principal Scientist, ZRS-Shillongani delivered lecture on the work done by Protection of plant varieties and farmer’s right authority and its branch offices. Later Dr. Arunima Debchoudhury, Senior Consultant, NFSM delivered lecture on the registration procedures for registering plant varieties. Then Dr.Smrita Gogoi, Scientist, ZRS-Shillongani delivered lecture on compulsory licensing and duration and effect of registration. Dr.Pranab Talukdar, Retd Head, Department of Plant Breeding & Genetics explained about farmers right and benefit sharing.Later there was a farmers scientist interactive session .The day long training ended vote of thanks from course director.
A day long training programme on “soil organic carbon detection using soil testing kit and its distribution” was organized by Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Morigaon and ICAR-ATARI, Zone VI, Guwahati at the office premises of KVK Morigaon on 28.04.2026. Total 28 progressive farmers from each block of Morigaon, Nagaon and Barpeta district had participated the programme. In the programme, District Commissioner, Morigaon; Technical Consultant, ICAR-ATARI Zone VI; Senior Scientist and Head along with Subject Matter Specialists of KVK Morigaon, KVK Nagaon and KVK Barpeta District; Scientific Staff and PhD Scholars of IIT Guwahati; District Agriculture Officer and Agriculture Development Officer of Morigaon district; and Field Officer of Disaster Management was also present in the programme. A total of 46 participants had participated the training programme.
In the inaugural session, Dr. R.S. Deka, Senior Scientist and Head of KVK Morigaon welcomed all the participants and briefed the objective of the programme. Dr. N.C. Sahoo, Technical Consultant, ICAR-ATARI Zone VI, in his address stressed on the importance of soil organic matter in maintaining soil health. He also urged farmers to adopt balanced nutrient management strategies to ensure long-term productivity. Shri. D.K. Bora, DAO Morigaon addressed on various strategies to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers and advocated for a transition toward scientifically calculated application rates. Chief Guest of the Programme, Smt. Anamika Tiwari, District Commissioner Morigaon, in her address to the participants commended the collaborative effort to bring IIT-level innovation to the farming community. She also advised for application of chemical fertilizers after getting proper scientific knowledge. After her address, Soil Testing Kits were distributed among the participating farmers.
In the technical session, scientific staff from IIT Guwahati elaborately described about the methodology for collection of soil sample and analysis of soil organic matter using the kit. They also practically demonstrated soil organic matter estimation using the kit

The Honourable Governor of Assam graciously visited KVK Morigaon under ICAR–ATARI, Zone-VI, Guwahati. During the visit, the Hon’ble Governor also inspected the Toria seed production plot at Jhargaon, appreciating the efforts made towards quality seed production and strengthening farmers’ livelihoods.
The visit provided an opportunity to showcase the role of KVKs in technology dissemination, seed production, and capacity building of farmers, contributing significantly to sustainable agricultural development in the region.
Such encouraging interactions inspire us to continue working with greater dedication for the benefit of farmers and agricultural growth of Assam.
On 12th May 2026, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Assam Agricultural University, Dr. D.J. Rajkhowa, visited Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Morigaon.
Dr. Rajkhowa was warmly welcomed by the KVK team upon arrival. A staff meeting was subsequently held at the KVK Conference Hall. During the meeting, the Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Morigaon, presented a brief overview of the Kendra’s significant achievements and the operational constraints faced by the office.
Hon’ble Vice Chancellor lauded the KVK’s contributions towards uplifting the rural economy of Morigaon district. He took a keen interest in the challenges highlighted by the staff and assured necessary support for their resolution.
Later, Dr. Rajkhowa visited key demonstration units of the KVK farm, including the Integrated Fishery-cum-Paddy Unit, Horticultural Nursery Unit, Fishery Unit, Integrated Horti-Fish-Poultry Unit, and other ongoing demonstration sites. He expressed satisfaction with the activities undertaken and offered valuable suggestions for further improvement.
During the visit, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor also held discussions with Mrs. Anamika Tiwari, District Commissioner, Morigaon. They deliberated on strategies to enhance farmers’ income in the district and emphasized strengthening institutional collaboration for the benefit of the farming community. Both dignitaries also stressed the importance of involving school and college students in agricultural and allied activities of KVK to foster interest in farming among youth.
The visit concluded on a positive and motivating note for the entire KVK team
