Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) is a noble concept developed by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) as primary links to empower the farmers, farm women and rural youth through capacity buildings. It is an innovative science based institution which functions with collaborative participation of scientists, extension workers and farmers to disseminate and transfer technology developed in the laboratory for the field application at farmers level and developing agriculture and allied sectors.
KVK Dibrugarh was established in the 2007. It is located in Romai-Kordoibam village covering an area of 16 ha. It is about 20 km away towards south-eastern direction of Dibrugarh town, the district head quarter, 8 km from Lahoal, a small town with a railway station and 15 Km from Dibrugarh Airport.

Farm input production unit like Azolla, Vermicompost, Biopesticide, Biofertlizer, Mushroom unit etc.

7 RecordsCluster Demonstration on Rapeseed.
Aimed at enhancing the productivity and income of farmers, particularly those of flood-affected rice farmers over their mono crop rice culture and over their local variety of rapeseed, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra Dibrugarh successfully conducted a cluster demonstration on Rapeseed Variety TS-36. The demonstration was carried out in total of 130 ha area where 268 nos. of beneficiaries were benefited and approximately 1520 quintal of Rapeseed was produced. From the 130 ha area, 100 ha was carried out under 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and 30 ha as regular Rabi oilseed programme. The programme was carried out in four villages viz. Bamkolakhowa, Pandhowa gaon, Janzimukh and Panimirigaon.
Demonstration on Ranjit Sub 1
A demonstration on paddy variety Ranjit Sub-1 was carried out in 20 ha area in two villages No.3 Charaihabi village and Panimiri gaon village where 38 nos. of farmers were benefited and approximately 975 quintals of paddy was harvested. This paddy variety gave a good record of higher productivity under a typical condition of flood because it can tolerate water submergence up to 15 days. This variety was affected by flood three times after transplanting and even after this, the Ranjit sub-1 variety was able to give the desired result. Thus, Ranjit sub-1 is a ray of hope for the flood-affected farmers of the locality.
Under Cluster Based Business Organization (CBBO) programme two numbers of FPCs were formed by KVK Dibrugarh. KVK Dibrugarh is working as Local-CBBO providing full support in all technical and upliftment of the two FPCs of the district. The two FPCs are as follows -

Khet Bachao Abhiyan programme was organized to create awareness among farmers regarding soil health management, balanced and judicious use of fertilizers, and the adoption of natural farming practices for sustainable agriculture.  The programme was attended by the Gaon Panchayat President Mr. Salman Kumar, the Agriculture Development Officer Mr Kailesh Karmakar (ADO), Dr Manoj Gogoi Scientist CRS, Mr Shantonu Paul FM KVK Dibrugarh AEA, DAO Dibrugarh, ATMA officials, village head and a large number of farmers from the village and surrounding areas.  The Gaon Panchayat President appreciated the initiative. The ADO highlighted various government schemes and advised farmers to adopt scientific crop management practices for enhancing productivity and reducing cultivation costs.  The Farm Manager delivered an informative session on Natural Farming and it's process , stressing the importance of soil testing and the balanced and judicious application of fertilizers based on soil test recommendations, also explained about the diversification of the crops to increase the income .The expert explained the adverse effects of excessive and indiscriminate use of chemical fertilizers and encouraged farmers to integrate organic manures, biofertilizers, and other eco-friendly practices to maintain soil fertility. ATMA officials discussed the assistance they could provide. They also informed farmers about training programmes and extension services available through ATMA. |

Agricultural input and pesticide dealers in Assam play a critical role in insecticide management, bridging the gap between scientific recommendations and local farming practices for crops like rice, rapeseed, mustard, and tea. Authorized dealers must hold valid Pesticide Wholesale Licences and certificates of competency issued through the Directorate of Agriculture, Government of Assam. Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) in Dibrugarh regularly conduct specialized training programs (such as 12-day insecticide management courses) in collaboration with Assam Agricultural University (AAU), Jorhat and District Agriculture Office, Dibrugarh to train regional input dealers where the Dealers are expected to advise farmers on proper insecticide selection, differentiating between general contact insecticides, larvicides, and eco-friendly options. Many stock bio-based, neem-based, and bio-larvicides alongside conventional chemicals to promote sustainable farming and minimize chemical residue. Till date KVK Dibrugarh has conducted 10 nos. of such trainings where 308 nos. of dealers have successfully completed the training programmes.Â
The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA) kharif , 2025, stands out as a significant milestone in India’s efforts to strengthen the agricultural research-extension-farmer continuum. This 15-day nationwide pre-Kharif campaign, conducted between May 29th and June 12th, 2025, was launched by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare in collaboration with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). It operated in convergence mode, integrating the efforts of Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), ICAR institutes, agricultural universities, and line departments of state government.
The 12 days long VKSA came to end in Dibrugarh District, along with all other KVKs in India on 12th June, 2025 with the ceremonial closing of the event. The closing ceremony in Dibrugarh district was organized in the Lahuwal block office, Lahowal, Dibrugarh district with the presence of dignitaries from different line departments viz. agriculture, veterinary, fishery, ASRLM, Panchayat and rural Development . Farmers ,farmwomen and rural youth from different parts of the Lahuwal block were present in the closing ceremony. At the beginning of the closing ceremony, all dignitaries were introduced by Dr Babita Tamuly, SMS, (soil Science) KVK, Dibrugarh, Dr Devajit borthakur, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK,Dibrugarh in his speech in the meeting explained about the achievement of VKSA in Dibrugarh District. In 12 days, two teams, consisting of scientists from KVK, ICAR, National Bureau of Soil Survey and Land Use planning and experts from various line departments visited 294 villages under 93 nos. of Gaon Pachayatas in 7 developmental blocks of Dibrugarh district and interacted with more than 11000 farmers. The VKSA was a big success as farmers able to know about the new concept of protected cultivation of off season vegetable, organic farming, natural framing, importance and conservation of indigenous plant varietiesand support of PPV&FRA (Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers’ Right Authority, New Delhi), utilization of rice fallow land for growing vegetables, importance of Plant growth promoting microbes(PGPM) in organic agriculture, zero tillage technique , grafting in vegetables, varmicomposting, production of certified seeds, water and soil conservation, soil health card and its use growing of high value crops like vanilla and velvet bean, etc. The experts from various line departments explained in their speech about the central and state government schemes in various departments and how farmers can extract the benefit of government Schemes. In the entire VKSA the scientists and executives were also immensely benefited to know the current problems the present farming communities are facing and it will enable the researchers and policy makers to design demand driven and need based research and planning. The other dignitaries present in the closing ceremony were Dr Manoj Gogoi, Citrus research Center, AAU, Tinsukia, Dr Anata Gogoi, block veterinary officer, Mr Abhiluchan Chetia, agriculture development officer, Mr Pranab Dihingia, fishery development officer, Ms. Dimple Boruah, Deputy Project Direct, ATMA, Dr Jitu Ranjan Chetia, chairperson and Ms Swapnali Bhuyan, program executive , Radio Gyanmalini, Dibrugarh University.
