Achivements
  • The best achievement during my 30 years of AAU service life is the establishment of a new KVK for Jorhat district of Assam at Kaliapani, Teok, as the Founder Program Coordinator during 2007-2009. The team KVK, under my dedicated leadership was instrumental in establishing a new Krishi Vigyan Kendra under AAU, right from taking possession of land, boundary demarcation, land development to construction of administrative building, farmers hostel, staff quarters, production farm and KVK campus. The historic creation of KVK, Jorhat from a "jungle land" to an extension knowledge hub, was highly appreciated by then DDG, Dr. K.D. Kokate, ADG, V. Venkatasubramanian, I/c Vice Chancellor, AAU Dr. B.C. Bhowmick and VC, AAU, Dr. K.M. Bujharbarua, during their visit to KVK, Jorhat.
  • My dream plan to place newly developed KVK, Jorhat on top, was the driving force to prepare diversified activity plans from infrastructure development to farm activity hubs. Fortunately, I was selected as a member for preparation of DPR on Integrated Farming System Model Farms for AAU KVKs. Under this project, I established different demonstration units at KVK, Jorhat under RKVY funding.
  • I took special initiative to touch farming communities on E- platform and established first of its kind, Rural Knowledge Centre, for farming community of Jorhat, under financial support of NABARD, Assam. As an inter institutional collaboration mode, I was able to mobilize funds from NABARD for exposure visit of 90 farmers to the North Eastern states.
  • I was entrusted by Honorable VC, AAU, to act as faculty coordinator in International Agriculture and Rural Development 6020 Program of Cornell University, USA. I guided AAU students for different exposure visit programs in different parts of India, organized by Cornell University, USA, in 2013. I had the opportunity of being a part of the group of students and teachers from 4 Indian and 6 American Universities. I successfully coordinated their assigned programs of group discussions, reflex paper presentations, exposure visits, inter university discussions, theme presentation on Rural Infrastructure, student assessment, final presentation and other academic requirements for the IARD program.
