Dr. Dipjyoti Rajkhowa
Since 13-03-2026 till date
Prof. Dipjyoti Rajkhowa obtained his B. Sc (Agri) and M. Sc (Agri) with distinctions followed by PhD from Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat. He served in various capacities from Assistant Professor, Sr. Scientist, Professor at AAU, Jorhat and later-on as Principal Scientist & Head, Natural Resource Management Division at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya, Joint Director, ICAR, Nagaland Centre and possess 35 years of experience in teaching, research, extension and administration.
Major Contributions
Development of 4 Integrated farming systems models, Package of Practices for organic production of crops, Climate change adaptation/mitigation, Integrated weed management, Conservation agriculture and development of 3 Climate Resilient Rice varieties through multidisciplinary team. Pioneer in developing and popularizing vermicomposting technology across the North Eastern Region. Successful Completion of 17 Externally funded and 12 Consultancy Projects besides 10 major initiatives focussed on technology dissemination as Principal Investigator/Co-ordinator including the large-scale multi-disciplinary and multi- institutional project "National Initiative on Climate Resilient Agriculture" (48.30 Crores) across the NEH Region. Possess 20 years teaching experience and Guided 19 Post Graduate students in Agriculture besides, designing courses on organic farming and chairing a no. of technical sessions in National and International scientific fora.
Research Infrastructure Creation
Development of state-of-the-art research facilities like FATE, CTGC, Rain Out Shelter, Biochar production unit and established NICRA laboratory, Custom Hiring Centres etc. (Rs.17 crores) at ICAR RC for NEH Region, Meghalaya. Development /strengthening laboratory facilities, administrative buildings of 4 KVKs at ICAR Nagaland Centre and established two KVKs in Peren and Kiphrie Districts of Nagaland.
Major Publications
Published 196 Research Papers, 17 Books, 41 Book Chapter etc. and contributed to policy documents including Vision 2030 and 2050 for ICAR NEH and Technology Vision 2047 Food and Agriculture, priorities for North east India as assigned by TIFAC, DST, Govt. of India. Organized 29 National and International Seminars/workshops, 3 summer schools and delivered key note and lead talks in more than 74 national & 18 international conferences etc. He also served as Editor, Reviewer, and Councillor of a no. of Scientific Journals and Professional societies.
