Achievements
  • Serving as professor of the department since 2006. Besides teaching both at UG and PG leading to Ph.D , actively associated with Phenotypic and genetic characterization of livestock and poultry of entire North East region including West Bengal. The fruit of this work resulted in the registration of first ever livestock breed from Assam, and received breed registration certificate from the ICAR – NBAGR ,New Delhi for registration of Doom pig.
  • Awarded breed registration certificate by ICAR – NBAGR ,New Delhi for registration of Lakhimi cattle of Assam, Sumi-Ne goat of Nagaland, Asomi goat of Assam, Luit (Swamp) and Manah breed of buffalo of Assam as co- applicant.
  • Guided 26 M.V.Sc and 8 Ph.D students as Major guide/ Member advisory committee.
    Published 100 research papers in national and international journals.
    Authored five monograph and one book on livestock genetic resources of Assam.
  • As a Principal Investigator completed two research project entitled ‘ Studies on type characterization of Nageswari duck of Assam’ and ‘Network project on Animal genetic resources- Core Laboratory’.
    As Co- Principal Investigator completed six ICAR /DBT funded research projects.
  • Selected to act as QRT member for ICAR –NRC on Yak Arunachal Pradesh.Served as Member, Institutional Management Committee, ICAR –NRC on Yak Arunachal Pradesh.
    Acted as Member, Govt. Livestock evaluation committee, Govt. of Assam.
    Presently, Board Member and Technical Management Committee (TMC) Member for Sikkim Livestock Development Board,Dept. of A.H.& Vety.Govt. of Sikkim. Expert member of Revisiting pig breeding policy 2019 of Assam.
