Achivements
  • 1. Actively involved in teaching both at the UG and PG level and guide for academic reports of garden training. 2. Presently Major Adviser to 3 (three) Ph.D students and 2 MSc (Agri) students of the Department of Tea Husbandry & Technology. 3. Was involved as Co-PI of the concluded UK-DFID-Funded ICAR-CABI Research Project, a DST funded project and a DBT funded project. 4. Completed a number of contract research trials on product development for the tea industry, notable among which is the global research trial on an herbicide molecule in tea which has now been released as Alion plus. 5. Involved in departmental research on tea based cropping system and organic farming in tea. 6. Jointly designed and prepared a series of self study material for the Krishna Kanta Handique State Open University which are now used for the Certificate Course on Scientific Tea Cultivation and Plantation Management offered by KKHSOU 7. During the period 1988-1991, actively involved in extension activity of the Department as Convener of the Tea Advisory Cell which was a voluntary service along with three senior teachers of the Department, namely Dr Aniruddha Deka, Dr Swapon Baruah and Dr Madan Taparia. Based on this activity, Tea Board offered financial support in 1991 and the Tea Advisory Cell was renamed as the Small Tea Growers Advisory Programme. During the period from 1988-2001, extensively toured throughout the traditional and non-traditional tracts of Assam and acquired in depth knowledge of small tea growers. Assistance was given to small tea growers in non-technical aspects, such as preparation of bankable projects, liaison with banks, government and other developmental agencies for the welfare of small tea growers. 8. Actively involved with the Small Tea Growers Advisory Programme of the department and undertaking extensive tours to the remote places of Assam for conducting field trainings and demonstrations. 9. Participated as resource person in training programmes organized for the benefit more than 20000 small tea growers of Assam. 10. Participated frequently at various interface, workshops and meetings with small tea growers, government bodies, Tea Board to develop strategies for development of the small tea sector 11. Consultancy service offered to the small tea growers in the department of Tea Husbandry & Technology at AAU HQ. 12. Consultant for assessment of crop loss in tea caused to commercial tea estates and small tea gardens due to operations of OIL India Limited and earned revenue for the university and has been a guest speaker in a number of meetings and workshops, organized by Tea Board of India, Indian Institute of Plantation Management (IIPM) and All Assam Small Tea Growers Association etc, during recent years. 13. Was an expert member for the Aspee L. M. Patel Farmer of the year Award 2017 (Horticulture category-Tea Cultivation.

  • DBT, Govt. of India sponsored project on "Value Addition and Product Diversification in Tea", project cost Rs.1.05 Crore implemented in 2022.
  • DBT, Govt. of India sponsored project on "Sustainable Management of Tea Waste to Transform the Tea Industry to Carbon Neutral and Zero Waste Industry", project cost Rs.1.30 Crore implemented in 2022.
