Directorate of Students' Welfare
The students' welfare activities in all the constituent colleges of the university are looked after by the Directorate of Students' Welfare. These activities were managed separately, up to 1988, by the constituent colleges with one Deputy Director of Students' Welfare (DDSW) placed at each of Jorhat and Khanapara campuses for the purpose. The DDSW at Jorhat campus working under the administrative control of the Dean, Faculty of Agriculture was responsible for the students' welfare activities of both the College of Agriculture and College of Home Science while the DDSW at Khanapara under the administrative control of the Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Science was responsible for the activities of College of Veterinary Science only.
The students' welfare activities of the entire university were brought under one umbrella by creating the Directorate of Students' Welfare headed by an Associate Director after three more colleges viz. (i) College of Fisheries at Raha, Nagaon; (ii) Biswanath College of Agriculture at Biswanath Chariali, Sonitpur and (iii) Lakhimpur College of Veterinary Science at Azad, North Lakhimpur were established in the year 1988. The students' welfare activities at different constituent colleges were thus coordinated since 1988 by the Associate Director of Students' Welfare stationed at Jorhat campus and being responsible to the Vice-chancellor. Initially, the students' welfare activities in each of the newly established colleges were looked after by a Teacher In-charge who was later on replaced by a DDSW. Subsequently, a post of Associate Director of Students' Welfare was created for Khanapara campus replacing the DDSW. The post of Director of Students' Welfare was filled up in the year 1998 with its head quarters at Jorhat campus.
