RARS, North Lakhimpur

Regional Agricultural Research Station ( RARS) North Lakhimpur is the Zonal Head Quarter of North Bank Plain Zone ( NBPZ) of Assam Agricultural University( AAU) which comprises six districts viz., Darrang, Udalguri, Sonitpur, Biswanath, Lakhimpur and Dhemaji. The station is located at a distance of 5 km east o from the North Lakhimpur town in the Gorumuria village. Endowed with a number of ecologies viz., deep water, semi-deep water, lowland and upland areas, the station is an ideal for rice research particularly for research under stress situations. RARS, North Lakhimpur was established in 1980 but the research activities started from 1983.
