Each faculty
is headed by a Dean. The Deans are the chairpersons of the
respective Board of Studies of the faculties which monitor
the overall academic activities concerning the faculties.
Traditional
system of teaching and evaluation was followed in the erstwhile
Assam Agricultural College, Jorhat and the Assam Veterinary
College, Khanapara until the Assam Agricultural University
was established in 1969. After establishment of the university,
the trimester system of teaching and internal evaluation in
the pattern of Land Grant Colleges of the USA was introduced.
However, it was felt that the trimester system was not functioning
effectively in our condition and therefore, in 1977, the semester
system was started in all the faculties and is being continued
till date. |
