The curriculum of
the faculty has undergoing periodic changes incorporating the
development in science and technology. The age-old syllabi were
reviewed and revised for new and emerging areas in agricultural
sciences. As per the latest recommendations of 3rd Deans
committee of the ICAR, the faculty of Agriculture, A.A.U. has
introduced the new curriculum for B.Sc.(Agri.) degree programme
from August, 1998.
The
main distinctive feature of the new course curriculum is a uniform
pattern of courses in all India level with 120 credit hours. Subjects
like Biotechnology and Computer Science have been introduced as
core courses. All other subjects have been thoroughly revised.
Another 20 credits earmarked for the Rural Agricultural Work Experience
Programme (RAWEP) for one semester and 20 additional credits have
been earmarked for job oriented and for courses on regional needs.
In 1996, the first batch of students had undergone training in
RAWEP.
Apart
from merit scholarships to the brilliant students several other
scholarships are being awarded which were sponsored by individuals
or organizations.
