On farm Trial (OFT)

  On farm trials are conducted on two accounts: to see performance of a newly developed technology and to see adaptability of a technology.  The KVK, Nalbari has been conducting OFT in rice on technologies such as delayed planting, post flood rice, SRI technique, varietal performance, ITK;  jute varieties; fertility management technology of green gram; horticultural crops such as on performance of new brinjal varieties and wilt tolerant brinjal varieties, pest management of cabbage and  brinjal, fruit preservation.

Other Extension Activities

 The scientific staff of KVK, Nalbari took part in 11 TV shows, 9 radio talk, 3 exhibitions, formation of 8 SHGs, 24 group discussions.  They delivered 20 lectures as resource person, provided advisory service to nearly 1000 farmers, and published 4 extension bulletins.  The activity of the KVK was published 73 times in newspaper.

Proposed programme for the current year

The KVK, Nalbari proposed to conduct 80 trainings under crop production,  horticulture, plant protection, soil science, home science, fisheries, animal science and sericulture.

v     Frontline demonstrations on  rapeseed (5 ha)  ahu rice(3), boro rice (2 ha) are on the field.   Some other crop of oilseed will also be covered in due course. Similarly demonstration on pulses and other crops as will be carried out.

v     On farm trial on biocontrol of brinjal is on field.  More technologies will tested in this year.
