The KVK was established
vide sanction order no. 3(88)/85 – KVK with financial support from the ICAR
at Gossaigaon sub-division of Kokrajhar
district and shares the campus with Regional Agricultural Research Station (RARS)
of AAU for Lower Brahmaputra Valley Zone Total land holding of KVK
is 11.0 ha, 1.5 ha is under office building, under orchard and agro-forestry
plants land area is 2.5 ha and land under seasonal crops are 7.0 ha. The
operational area of KVK encompasses three sub-divsions
viz. Kokrajhar, Gossaigaon,
Parbatjhora and eight community development blocks
namely Titaguri, Dotma, Gossaigaon, Kachugaon, Hatidhura, Debitola, Mahamaya and Rupshi. The KVK, Kokrajhar is regularly organising training programmes for
farmers, farm-women, rural youth, extension personals of agriculture/other
line departments/ NGO’s and also conducting FLD on validated technologies for
large scale adoption and OFT of newly developed technology for further
refinement at farmers field covering a large number of farmers. The centre
also renders various advisory services on different problems reported by
farming community and development departments by conducting multidisciplinary
team visits, interaction programmes, group discussions, organising seminars,
exhibitions etc. and maintains good co-ordination with development
agencies/organisations/departments. Mandate of the

Conducting “On-Farm Testing” for identifying technologies in
terms of location specific sustainable land use systems. ·
Organising training to update the extension personnel with
emerging advances in agricultural research on regular basis. ·
Organising short and long term training courses in agriculture
and allied vocations for the farmers and rural youths with emphasis on
“Learning by doing” for higher production on farms and generating
self-employment. ·
Organising Front Line Demonstrations (FLDs)
