The Assam Agricultural University since its inception in 1969 generated a number of technology for the farmers of the region through its research network. Farmers have found many of such technologies particularly suitable for their own farm situation. At the same time a large number of technologies are either not being utilized by the farmers or under utilized for one and other reasons. Extension research on utilizer system of research innovations have revealed that compatibility of technology with farmers agro-ecological and socio-cultural situations, profitability over the existing techniques and such other factors increases the possibility of adoption. Recent researches further strengthen ownership of the research findings as one of the most important factors for commitment for action.
