Agriculture is the backbone of our national economy. The progress of the nation, therefore, is linked with the advancement of agriculture. Realizing the scope and importance of agriculture, the Government has rightly made a policy decision to invest a major share of its plan allocation for agricultural development.
Agricultural research and education has been considerably advanced in this country. To bridge the gap between the productive technologies available and their rapid transfer to the farmers, appropriate training of practicing farmers, in-service extension staff and the agricultural teachers and trainers is very crucial in increasing agricultural production. Keeping these aims in view, the scheme of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) was initiated by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). |
