The Extension Education Institute (EEI)Directorate of Extension EducationAssam Agricultural University, Jorhat, India.The Extension Education Institute (EEI), Jorhat is one of the four Regional Training Centers funded by Directorate of Extension, Govt. of India, Ministry of Agriculture, New Delhi. The basic objective of the institute is to develop competency of the middle level extension functionaries and trainers of state level training centers in different areas of extension education. The institute is managed by Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat with technical guidance from Directorate of Extension , New Delhi. The operational area of the institute covers all the 7 states of N. E Region, including.. and 2 other states - Sikkim and West Bengal. EEI, Jorhat was established in January 1988. The Institute conducted the first training course in February, 1989 . Since then, more than 150 training courses have been conducted and over 3000 middle level extension functionaries of land based departments, office bearers of NGOs, and Scientist / teachers / trainers of SAU/CAU and ICAR institutes of the Region have been trained till mid 2000 . The Institute is located on the main campus of Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat where a number of All India Coordinated Research Projects of ICAR are operating. This provides a readymade environment for technological demonstrations and practical based training. Organizing Extension Management Training Programme and Participatory Extension Approaches and PRA Techniques. Facilitating and conducting output oriented workshops using participatory methods. |
